You have been invited to attend an interview for a place studying a course in a college. Unfortunately, because of a previous appointment you cannot come at the time they wish.

Write a letter to the admissions tutor and explain your position. Apologize and offer to come on another day or later the same day. Ask also how long the interview will be and whether there will be any tests during it.
You do NOT need to write your own address.
Begin your letter as- Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter in response to the invitation received from your esteemed university for a personal interview on Tuesday, 13th July 2019. Unfortunately, I am unavailable on the said date.

I am a single parent and have prior commitments scheduled for this particular day. I need to be at my daughter’s annual school function. My children are my top priority.
Having said that, I have been awaiting the opportunity to enroll at your institution to pursue my master's degree.

I request you to kindly reschedule this appointment to another day, this week. I assure you that I will be there on time. Furthermore, I would like to inquire about the time-slot for the personal discussion and if I will be required to appear for an entrance test on the same day.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. I will be highly obliged if you could consider this a special case and give me a chance to be a part of your college. Hoping for a quick and favorable response.
Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Khushleen Kaur
