You have been invited to attend an interview for a place studying a course in a college. Unfortunately because of a previous appointment you cannot come at the time they wish.
Write a letter to the admissions tutor and explain your position. Apologise and offer to come on another day or later the same day. Ask also how long the interview will be and whether there will be any tests during it.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write to inform you of my abscence at the interview slated for Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019 according to your last coorespondence. I appreciate that your letter was sent in due time, however, I already booked an appointment with my dentist to remove a hole in a tooth of mine that same day.
I deeply apologise for any inconvenience this might bring. I would have suggested a change of the interview time from 12 noon to 3 pm (after my appointment), but, considering the fact that it is a week day and I’m going to be treated at a general hospital, there might be a long queue waiting to also be attended to. Furthermore, I don’t know how severe the resulting pain might be and I would not forgive myself if my performance at the interview is marred because of my inability to speak well.
I would like to propose that my interview be rescheduled till the 9th of April, exactly a week from the previous date.
With respect to information in your previous letter, I would like to find out how long the interview would be and what materials I should bring along. Would there be another test or was the first stage test sufficient for evaluation?
Thank you for your consideration. I await a kind response.
Yours faithfully,
Odunayo Adekoya.
