You have been offered a job that will require you to move to a city that you have
never visited before. You have an acquaintance who lives there.

Write a letter to the acquaintance. In your letter

• explain your situation
• say why you feel unsure about living in the city
• ask some questions about life in the city

Dear Sunil,

I would like to inform you that I am going to join a multinational company in your city, Toronto. I had received offer letter last week to join Honeywell, which is a popular company in Toronto. As you know, I have never been there in Toronto before and I am little confused that where should I live in Toronto after arrival in the city.

Furthermore, I heard that Toronto has very cold weather throughout the year, and I am afraid of the freezing cold. I am not sure how would I manage to live there for such a long time. Although, I have managed to get some information about popular residential colonies, but still I am confused about where to live. If you could help me in finding right place to live, I would be grateful to you.

Also, if you could guide me about the life in the city, it could be very helpful for me to settle down easily. Specifically, I would like to know about public transportation, hospitality, and medical services. Finally, I would like to know about best shop for warn clothes as I am afraid of cold weather.

I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,
John
