You have just finished your master’s degree and need to leave your current part-time job to search for full-time employment. 11:25
Write a letter to your current employer. In your letter:
– explain why you will not be able to pursue a full-time job in his/her company
– say why you’ve enjoyed working for him/her
– tell him/her how much longer you will continue to work for him/her.

Dear Mr Smith,

I am writing to make you aware that I would not be able to continue working as I have completed my bachelor’s degree and am seeking full-time job opportunities now.
Even though I enjoy work here, I have to leave this job as this designation does not align with my studies. Also, working as a customer representative has fewer career opportunities compared to a web developer. Due to better job prospects along with superior hourly wage, I have decided to leave my current part-time job.

I have been working here on a part-time basis for almost 4 years now and would like to address some things that I will always miss. Firstly, the friendly staff and your guidance created such a conducive environment which helped me ameliorate my personality. Secondly, I will continue to appreciate your consideration which you rendered while I was studying; I still remember during my exams you always give me a day shift instead of a night shift in order to study properly.

Presently, I am in the process of getting a work visa which would take more than 40 days. For the time being, I will continue to work here only on a part-time basis even though I am available full-time because Canadian law does not permit to do so.

Thank you for your geniality and guidance.

Yours faithfully,
Alex Barns
