You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter
1. Say why she/he would not enjoy going to college.
2. explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
3. suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her
Dear Tauseef,
I have received your letter the day before yesterday seeking guidance about joining a college or find a job. I have given it quite a through thought and have decided that you should opt for a job.
As you know majority of students in college are mature and have spent minimum a year working full-time in their area of interest before joining college for full-time studies. With majority of mature and experienced students it would be difficult for you to cope up and study. Doing an unpaid/ paid internship, job or a voluntary service will help you in gaining practical insights regarding your work. Additionally, it will enhance your interpersonal skills. For instance, working as a data operator will develop your skills in working on MS EXCEL worksheets or industry-relevant software. You can join an NGO if you’re interested in social and society development, teach your favorite subject to junior students, work as helper in a finance and accounting department or work in a computer shop to understand basic IT related troubleshooting.
Job will help you in realizing and identifying your inclination and true potential and will help you in choosing the right courses during your college life. Moreover, you can save some money to spend on during college years. I hope this will suffice your purpose.
Do let me know if you need my further help.
Best regards,
Farrukh
