Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter with great dissatisfaction to share my experience of rail journey this morning. I am a regular commuter of East-West Line and have been travelling daily since last fifteen years. Till date, I have not faced any major problems or inconvenience as I did today. Therefore, I would request you to take an immediate action to avoid such a re-occurrence.
Firstly, I boarded the train at 8.15 am today from EW MRT station. Although the train was crowded and there was no room to breathe, still I give in to reach early for an important presentation in office. Little did I know that the train will hault half way, keeping all passengers in dilemma. We were clueless and were expecting that the train will resume as per normal in few minutes. However, there was no announcement nor any information was broadcasted regarding the breakdown. If there was any emergency or the train was delayed due to other factors, the railway staff could have informed us promptly. Since the doors were closed and no one could alight, we were stranded in the train with no resolution. Moreover, there were small children with parents and also some elderly with health conditions travelling in this train. This could have lead to casualties causing a great concern for the department in- charge. Furthermore, I was reprimanded by my boss for skipping an important meeting due to the delay in resumption of train services. Despite my repeated requests, I was issued a warning letter for punctuality.
Lastly, I highly recommend that there should be some rescue procedures in place for such situations. Additionally, a notice may be issued or some announcements shall be made known to the public affected. Specifically, not to mention that for this situation, I hope you can give me a written account of the day and time so that I can submit to my superiors. Possibly, this could help me waive off my letter. Also, for future you might be better prepared in the event of such situations.
Looking forward for your prompt response.
Yours faithfully,
Nur Amirah
