You work for a company and need time off work
Dear Miss Hilary,
I am writing to inform you that I would like some time off work next week. I would actually need about 5 working days to enable me visit my mother, who just underwent a cardiac operation.
Actually, my mum just had a heart transplant at the Nottingham University Teaching hospital, last week Monday and could not make it to the hospital, because of the ongoing major project which was at its critical stage. But now, I think it is safe to visit her, now that the project is at the point of delivery, which will be handled by another department. Unfortunately, my aunt who had been staying with her needs to resume work and I have no choice other than to stay with my mummy while she is recuperating as I am her only surviving child.
However, Mr Harrison, my colleague and job sharing mate, has agreed to take on my duties while i will be away and should any emergency come up, my phone will be on and I can always hook up on the office intranet and work from home if need be.
I know how much my absence from work mean to the company but I hope you will grant me the days I need.
