Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding the latest news that our community center is closing.
The Springfield Recreation Center has been an important part of my family history. I was raised by a single mother and she had to work seven days a week to support me and my sister. She used to send us to the Recreation Center after school to keep us off streets.
Not only has the Center been important for my family but it is embodied in every person that lives in our community. As an Italian neighborhood, we hold our annual Italian party there and it is not only to celebrate our roots, but we use this festivity as a way to raise money to our local school library and to buy instruments to the music center.
Terminating the Recreation Center will bring many negative effects not only in our neighborhood but for the whole city. Our children will have nowhere to go after school and will certainly be easier for the gangs to recruit them. Also, our Italian heritage that is so important to us will fade and will not be passed along to future generations as we try with our Italian party. I would like to suggest that we raise the money the city needs holding more festivities at the Center to keep its doors opened.
