A person spends most of his or her time in the workplace, and life becomes meaningless when there is no job satisfaction. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Job satisfaction irrefutably has a considerable bearing on individuals' physical and mental well-being. Given its profound impact, it is believed that the absence of job contentment could render life meaningless as people spend most of their time at work. Much as this thinking is valid on some level, I would contend that a person's life can still be meaningful despite being discontent with their job.
Job satisfaction can translate into meaning in people's lives. An individual that feels great job satisfaction tends to display a passionate commitment to their work and aspire to better performance in a bid to gain promotions. The sense of satisfaction earned from this advancement could make life more purposeful. By contrast, those deriving little satisfaction from their job tend to have no positivity or drive within them, which is bound to take a heavy toll on their mental and physical health. In particular, constant dissatisfaction may instill a sense of purposelessness, resulting in considerable stress, and in worst-case scenarios, some people may go through depression or commit suicide. This goes to show how a lack of job satisfaction might prove detrimental to one's life given the enormous amount of time one spends at work.
However, there exist other factors that can also give meaning to life in addition to job satisfaction. In spite of being dissatisfied with their employment, the income earned can provide people with the means necessary to lead a happy and abundant life. Finances aside, individuals take up an occupation as long as they can do good deeds to help others. For example, waiters, waitresses, or shippers, whose jobs are labor-intensive and repetitive, report low job contentment. Nevertheless, people still take on these jobs in order to ensure financial stability for their family as well as to make customers happy, which would bring them a great sense of purpose.
In conclusion, the notion that dissatisfaction with one's employment can make life no longer meaningful is valid to a certain extent, however, there are other contributing factors that both make a job worth doing and people's lives purposeful.
