The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
It is argued that in today's society, social networking sites have gained in popularity as a substitute for face-to-face communication. However, personally, I believe that the following essay will analyze the pros and cons of this popular phenomenon.
To begin with, there are various benefits related to this situation. Firstly, with these social media platforms, people can make it easy to stay connected with their loved ones, regardless of geographic location. For example, family memberships who are far from home due to working or studying can easily use virtual conversational exchanges such as the video call features of Skype, Facebook, or various other apps. Secondly, because of the covid-19 pandemic, social conservation is able to keep companies working. In other words, this means of working can help their clients to update all newly-released products as clearly as possible, which is not only safer but also avoid unemployment.
On the other hand, this problem is totally free from drawbacks. The main reason for this issue is that the overuse of social media reduces the quality of interpersonal communication. These days, there is an increase in the number of people who tend to interact with others through their electronic devices rather than physical interaction, and as a result, it might take a risk of real-life relationships, also limited use of significant real-life communication skills such as body language or eye contact. Furthermore, in this digital age, this situation also brings adversely affects the way users communicate. This is because the habit of using emotional icons and slang words to express their thoughts and feelings, which is very common in youngsters nowadays, has triggered confusion and misunderstanding of the other's intentions.
In conclusion, it is worth pointing out that this trend contains within it both merits and drawbacks but it seems that disadvantages may far outweigh its advantages
