species extinction

Essay topics:

species extinction

Some controversy has been generated about what has caused the mass extinction at the end of the Triassic period. The reading states that there are three possible explanations for that event. However, the speaker argues that none of these points sound right.

The first point of dispute is if the reduction in the sea level caused the mass-extinction. The lecturer epxlains that animals that lived in the costal and shallows water did not extinct because of sea level fluctuation. This is because the change in the sea leve usually happens gradually over millions of years. By contrast, the writer casts doubt on this claim by saying that the decline of the sea level might have led to mass extinctions.

The second controversial issue is about climate change caused the extention. According to the professor, it is true that widespread of volcanic activity increased the amount of sulfur dioxide in the air. However, almost all the amount of sulfer dioxide in the atomspher washed out. This is because they combined with the rain water molecules and droped as rain. On the other hand, the text mentioned that the altar of the climate could have resulted in disappearing of many species.

The final point of dispute the question of the asteriod strike. The speaker claims that there is no evidence of asteroid bombarded the Earth right before the extinction. In addition, the only record that was found about asteriod colition was 12 million years before the extinction happened. Therefore asteroid strike could have not caused the extinctions. Despite that possible rationale, the author ignores to accept all these potential explanations.

We are expecting: No. of Words: 350 while No. of Different Words: 200
Better to have 5 paragraphs with 3 arguments. And try always support/against one side but compare two sides, like this:

para 1: introduction
para 2: reason 1. address both of the views presented for reason 1
para 3: reason 2. address both of the views presented for reason 2
para 4: reason 3. address both of the views presented for reason 3
para 5: conclusion.

So how to find out those reasons. There is a formula:

reasons == advantages or

reasons == disadvantages

for example, we can always apply 'save time', 'save/make money', 'find a job', 'make friends', 'get more information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.

or we can apply 'waste time', 'waste money', 'no job', 'make bad friends', 'get bad information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.
