According to the professor, this committee’s outcome is not justified since it consists of Peary’s friends who were paid to act biased and the investigation took long just two days. To delineate, she insists on that this short-term study cannot be accurate and the records has not been surveyed carefully.
Secondly, the writer disputes that a contemporary expedition called Tom Avery has repeated Peary’s journey in 7 days to prove the accuracy of his pretention against critics’ skepticism. Based on the article, he succeeded and was capable of reaching the North Pole in that exact period. The lecturer, in contrast, asserts that Tom’s journey was quite different from Peary’s. Precisely she describes that Tom’s sleds carried less weight because his food was brought to him by airplane. Moreover, the weather during Peary’s journey was gentle and more friendly which affected his travel positively.
Finally, the author averts that photographs taken by Peary were surveyed, and the exact calculation of the Sun’s position demonstrates his location. The lecturer’s stance, in contrast, is that locating the Sun’s position requires thoroughly exact measurements of the shadows. However, these photos were taken approximately 100 years ago by primitive cameras, also the shadows are faded over the years. The professor puts forward to the point that hardly shadows in these blurred photos can be precisely measured. Furthermore, she claims that as long as it is not proved that the photos are taken in North Pole really, they cannot count as compelling evidence.
