crazy yellow ants elimination in palm forest

Essay topics:

crazy yellow ants elimination in palm forest

The passage presents some possible solutions to the crisis of crazy yellow ants threatening the ecosystem of a unique palm forest. The lecturer disregards all the points made in the article, and she claims none of the proposed solutions are practical. Her further demonstrations are as follows.

Firstly, while chemically toxic ant traps can indeed kill crazy yellow ants, they cannot differentiate between these crazy yellow ants and other native ant species. The island near Australia which is mentioned in the text did not have any other ant species. By contrast, the palm forest is home to other ant species that we aim to protect, not harm. Utilizing the toxic ant traps would kill other ant species, and consequently, endanger the ecosystem.

Secondly, although broad-leaved trees are a kind of preferred habitat for crazy yellow ants, this ant species can thrive in several other environments such as open fields that are greatly exposed to sunlight. Thus, cutting down broad-leaved trees might exclude one type of favorable habitat for crazy yellow ants, but it also presents another suitable environment for their population surge; the sunlight-enriched open field inside the forest.

Finally, reducing human activity near palm forest might indeed cause a decrease in the crazy yellow ants population to some degree, it imposes a destructive effect on the economy of the region. Most of the income in that region comes from tourism and visits from scientists who are planning to examine and observe the unique animal and plant species in the palm forest. Hence, by limiting human activity in the area, the revenue of the natives and that region collectively faces restraints as well.
