Directions: You have 20 minutes to plan and write your response. Your response will be judged on the basis of the quality of your writing and on how well your response presents the points in the lecture and their relationship to the reading passage. Typically, an effective response will be 150 to 225 words.
Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.

Both the article and listening illustrate the arguments about producer of the photographic negatives. The reading gives three points on why those photographic negatives belongs to Ansel Adams, but is challenged by the professor in the lecture. The professor in the listening claims that all the arguments in the article are not convincing enough based on the following points.
Firstly, this passage suggests that the scenery features presented in the negatives resemble to the photographs taken by Ansel Adams. However, the professor concludes that the pine tree is not a random tree and is planted in a famous park where there were numerous visitors in 1920s. And the pine tree was one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions. So it is not likely that Ansel Adams took the photos.
Secondly, even though the article thinks that the writing on the negatives were made by Ansel Adams' wife. But the lecturer says that it is not convincing that Ansel Adams' wife spell the names on the negatives because there are many spelling mistakes which is not reasonable for a person who was so familiar with the family.
Thirdly, the professor asserts that is not accurately to account the negatives as work of Ansel Adams whereas the article proposes that the damaged negatives is consistent with the fire occurred in the Ansel Adams' studio. The professor proves this statement by pointing out that the process of making negatives is dangerous for they often use a flammable chemical. As a result, the negatives damaged by fire is quite common when making them.
