Emperor penguins.
The reading and lecture are about Emperor Penguins. The lecture states that as per the old records the life is penguins is true but as per the new the data it is false. The lecture cast doubts on Penguins for three main reasons as per the reading.
First, the reading states that though they are unique and they can include hundreds of thousands of individual. As per the lecture, it is true that they are unique and diligent to the mates. It is not true that they stick to the same mates. they are not faithful for life. When they meet a mate they are with them but when they return back to their breeding they meet someone else. They have to meet them in a specific time frame. And it is only 15% of the time that they are together.
Second, according to the reading the penguins return to the nest land each year. Though their path is different due to shifting ice they continue to use rookery when they are hatched. According to the lecture, there were some satellite images taken. The images show that there were 6 instances where they didn't return back. Addition to hat there was entire relocation. They were recurring every year.
Third, the penguins were not endangered and not protected under international law. The population was stable. According to the lecture when the population count was conducted it was only 1/3rd%. They are unique but emperor penguins must be protected if they want to survive.
