So The point made in the lecture is that if the company start a culture of four days a week for employees, then they have to hire more employees in order to work to be done on time without any delay and for this they have spent a chunk of profit to trained new hires and provide them medical benefits which are similar to other employees and also the company have to increase office space and number of computers. And by doing so their profit percent get decrease or may get into the lose also.
Moreover, hiring is will be costly for the company, so what company will start doing is they will ask their employees to work overtime and also raise the expectation from them. So by doing this there is no need to create new job and company would save a lot, but this will be very unpleasant for the employee as they have work overtime with high expectation from the higher management.
In addition to, by doing a four days a week the employees could improve quality of their life by spending time with their families, pursuing private interests or enjoying leisure activities but they will actually be reducing their quality of work and job stability will not be there and chances of getting fired during economic slowdown is very high for the employee with four day week office and also the company will like to promote those employees who work five days a week when comparing to four days a week.
