four day week working program

Essay topics:

four-day week working program

The reading and the lecture are about employees working a four-day week. The author of the reading feels that by working a
four-day week, employees can enjoy many benefits. However, the lecturer challenges all the claims made by the author
and explains hereunder.

First of all, the professor says that by accepting a four-day week program and hiring more employees, the companies will not get
the benefit because accepting more job-holders require huge space to work and also many electronic devices. Additionally, the
companies need to provide their employees with a lot of training and also they should offer medical benefits to the workers. This
way, additional costs will cut into company profits. On the other hand, the reading suggests that by implementing four-day
week program will give working to spend their free time enjoying and also relaxed. Moreover, hiring more employees will
not be an additional cost to the companies as the paychecks are the same to be issued.

Next, the writer mentions that it will reduce the unemployment rates for the people who are trying to get a job. Furthermore,
the workload will be decreased on four-day week full-time individuals as there are more workers to work the same work. On
the contrary, the academician argues that by over employment many jobs will be available for the people, but the companies will
ask people to work more as their expectations increase by having numerous people to accomplish their work. He also adds the
point that the jobs ill become unpleasant than present if they consider a four-day week schedule.

Finally, the tutor suggests that when people work for fewer hours they get a little salary, by which they cannot spend happily with
their family. Additionally, he mentions that these persons will lose their jobs first when the economy downturns. Even more,
the companies will be looking for the people who work for five days a week to offer promotions.
