integRATED ESSAY -TPO 40

Both the reading and the listening discuss colonizing venus. The reading mentions that living on venus is hardly possible to maintain a human presence by following three reasons that will support the following paragraph, but the listening cast doubt on each reason made by reading.

Firstly, the passage supports the idea that venus' the atmospheric pressure of surface is greater than the Earth's surface by around 90 times. this challenged by lecturer by mentioning that only surface pressure is great to compare with atmospheric pressure, which is soft. Thus the spacecraft can safely stay in the area of atmospheric condition that is similar to Earth's surface pressure.

Secondly, the passage adds about common chemical elements, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid that exist on the venus-impossible to live longer without water. However, the listening suggests that importance of the elements mentioned in the passage which are basic elements make water.

Third, the reading passage claims that the atmospheric cloud of venus reflects the 60 percent of the sunlight; hence it will be really cold to exist by using 40 percent of sunlight. this claim refutes by the professor for emphasizing that the reflection of the sunlight is possible to use for gaining fuel.
