internet is good or bad

Essay topics:

internet is good or bad

The reading and lecture are both about the Internet. The author of reading feels that the Internet makes people dumper. The lecturer challenges the claim made by the author. He is of the opinion that the Internet makes people more smarter. The lecturer cast doubt on the main point made in reading by providing three reasons.

To begin with, the author argues that Internet makes us less adventurous, more cautious and less likely to define ourselves by our own experience; moreover, Internet put other people's ideas and experience perpetually in our fingertips. This argument is challenged by lecturer. He claims that Internet makes the people smarter; furthermore, he mentions that the Internet increases the IQ of every person by ten as compared to the IQ of people where there is no option of the Internet.

Secondly, the reading states that Internet has had adverse effects on our short-term attention spans and our ability to focus on a task; nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this by mentioning that due to internet small kids are able to solve their school task on their own and without the help of teachers. Whereas, in past where there is no internet kids are more dependent on Teachers.

Finally, the author posits that the Internet has often removed the need for critical thinking and creative problems- in everyday situations. Howbeit, the lecturer, believes that due to the usage of Internet humans become more critical as compared to past where there was no internet. He feels now humans find the solution of each and every critical question on their own and without the need of others.
