First, the reading claims that the problem for finding a reliable suppliers is eliminated by buying a franchise. The professor refutes this point by stating that it is not true always. He explains that those reliable suppliers force owner to buy their own products although they can find those products in cheaper rate in other suppliers. This can create disadvantage to the franchise company.
Secondly, the reading posits that the franchise can save money on advertising. However, the professor refutes by saying that it does advantages to the company not to their businesses. Further, they have to give 6% of their sales to the main company. The company won't be benefitted much by such strategy.
Lastly, the reading claims that a franchise offers more security than starting an independent business. However, the professor refutes by stating that it is not as secure as we consider it to be. He explains that rather than buying a franchise, it would be benefit to buy an already independent business. In that way, the company can have double success rate than buying a franchise.
