modified trees and natural ones

Essay topics:

modified trees and natural ones

Both the passage and the lecture discuss genetic modified trees. The passage claims that genetic modification will improve trees and bring many benefits by explaining three of them. In the opposite, the professor says that there are some serious problems along with benefits of these trees. She refutes each benefit of modified trees mentioned in passage.
Firstly, the reading states that these trees are more durable in hard conditions in comparison to nature ones. The professor denies this passage's claim by saying that modified trees will be resistant in a particular condition but without any guarantee to survive because all of them in one species are closely uniform which cause universally possible attack, but the natural ones are diverse with different genes which prevent extinction of those with one particular attack. They have more ability to survive because of more diversity.
Secondly, the passages talks about economic benefits of modified trees because of their faster growth and following greater yields. oppositely, the professor oppose this by stating that the seeds of modified trees which cost a lot, can be freely collected but people must pay money to company each time of planting these tree because of the law.
Third, according to passage, modified trees prepare normal condition for prevention of overexploitation of wild trees. In fact, these faster growth trees can use as firewood and building timber instead of those wild. The professor contradicts this idea by explanation of aggressive growth of modified trees among natural ones which cause competition among them and natural ones for resources. And in this way they can cause more damages rather than having benefits.
