Online graduate degree programs are being offered worldwide. In many respects, the programs are like the same degree programs available in a traditional campus environment, but in several key aspects, they are very different.

The article introduces with the fact that online degrees are being offered all around the world as the most parts of the globe are digitalised now. More specifically, the passage states that online degrees are more detremental than that of the conventional on-campus degrees. The following reasons and contradictions depict the advantages and disadvantages of an online degree.
Firstly, the passage says that in online training, one-on-one time with the professors is not offered, which can be vital sometimes when there is a need for a student to discuss about a topic that is not well understood in the lecture. A student in this situation can talk to the professor, face to face wherever and whenever is convenient for both the student and professor in the campus. Whereas, the lecture disagrees to this fact that one-on-one time with the professors is only needed when the student wishes and it is not that significant. Students can much efficiently talk to the professors by the medium of either email, chat or even telephone the professor directly.
Secondly, the passage goes on to say that with the spread of online graduate programs among the schools around the globe, because of the ease of access with which the students can study by themselves. The online courses are claimed to become relatively much easier than their on-campus counterparts. This can be because the lectures are recorded and students can access them anytime, they tend to finish the courses much faster than listening to each lecture typically in a class-room. On the contrary, the lecture claims that online programs are not easier but some students assessed them to be much harder than the on-campus programs. They further claim that, this is because, all the online graduate programs are supposed to match the same standards as the on-campus programs. Students tend to feel that online programs are much harder because they have to maintain consistency, be self-disciplined and manage time throughout the course.
Lastly, the passage goes on to say that most of the top schools in the world, do not offer online counterparts of their courses because of the lack of the quality they possess. This is claimed to be disproven by the lecture that gives a particular example, saying that Ivy League, Princeton which are one of the top schools in the world, offer online graduate programs. Because of this claim, it can be inferred that online graduate programs are accepted by many top schools.
To sum up, both the passage and the lecture hold conflicting views about having online graduate programs. It can be concluded, because of the reasons and real-life examples given by the lecture, that online graduate programs are just as credible and can be validated, just as their on-campus counterparts.
