Productivity and rewards
The article states that rewards improve productivity in the workplace and some companies give special treatment. But the lecturer argues that being given rewards is punishment and workers will feel manipulated and controlled.
First of all, in the article, it is proved by books that rewards give motivation to workers. This directly contradicts the lecturer's point about rewards being counterproductive in some studies.
Second of all, the passage states that workers need extra motivational force in order to do their job productively. However, the lecturer casts doubt upon this saying that workers need to pay respectively. If they are not respected for their accomplishment, they will be disappointed.
Third of all, the author states that if the reward system is structured well, it will bring positive results. But, the lecturer claims that workers will not get their expected reward because the more desirable a reward is, the more disappointing it is if you fail to get it. In addition, relationships with the supervisor can get damaged.
To sum up, this is how the listening passage casts doubts on the points made in the reading passage.
