Question:Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.

The lecture and the reading both are related to the possible reason behind the Lambeisaurs' big bony crests. Although, the writer of the reading stands on the position that there are some possibilities for the actual function of those crests, the professor in the lecture dismisses all the speculations provided by the writer. The lecturer continues to say that some firm problems decrease the likelihood of those theories.

To begin with, the passage claims that those crests could be used for smelling. The professor rejects this idea with some strong reasons. While the writer feels that there is some similarity between the structure of the nose bones of modern animals and mentioned crests, the professor describes that in modern animals, the nose is backed by well-developed brain. That brain contains required nerves in order to process information. However, in Lambeosaur's, we see some under-developed brain; so it cannot be a probable explanation.

Secondly, the reading and the lecture both discuss the function of cooling in crests. The reading assert that, like Stegosaurs, those crests would have increased the body surface area to facilitate the cooling procedure. By contrast, the professor points out that in Stegosaurs, there are some bony plates that can effectively increase the body surface, but this is not true about Labbeosaur. He goes on to state that the existance of only one small crest wil not have any advantage for that aim.

Finally, the writer and the man in the listening talks about the role of crests in making sound ability. Although, the reading includes some evidence to theorize the role of crests in sound making, the professr refutes them. The professor says that all of the animals like them have good hearing skills. Then it would be not true only in thes animals.
