Firstly, the article explains that nothing but literature provide intellectual information and expand our understanding in language. In contrast, lecture says that nowadays students read other subject like science, politics, history which are of high standard and people being more creative.
Secondly, reading posits that despite reading literature reader like to read other book which are poorly written. Moreover people spreading their time watching television, watching music videos, or read a web page. The lecture, However, claims that lack of reading difficult novels does not mean there is decline in culture. Professor elaborates that using such media means change in form of culture not declination. These devices provide more specific information.
Finally, The author claims that due to less no. of people interested in literature there is a reduction in literature books. Publisher invest less money and hence only selected writer are supported to write literature. On the other hand, lecture refutes this point by saying that the declination in literature writer is due to less supply not the reader. In addition, lecture explain it is authors fault because they write difficult materials which is difficult to understand.
In conclusion, The lecture explain that less reading in literature is mainly due to reading more interesting and creative subjects other than literature, another form of material such as digital devices and difficult writing pattern used by writers.
