Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth century Dutch painters However there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him One such painting is known as attributed to Rembrandt because of its style and

Reading passage discusses about the painting Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet which is misattributated to Rembrandt. The lecturer presents the recent findings that refutes these claims.

Firstly, the the passage states that the painter does not have attention to details since the dressup of the lady in painting is mismached and Rembrandts is known for his attention to details. lecturer mentions about the x-ray results of the painting which shows that that the cap was not at all the part of the original painting. In addtion to that she says that paining has been repainted to increse the value and importance.

Secondly, the painting have some issues wiith lighting and shawdows. Lecturer explaines this by saying that the colour of the fur was not dark in the original painting rather it was of light coloured cloth and unlike dark colour it would have reflected the light from fur.

Lastly, Passage says that Rembrandt has never used glued wooden panel for the paintings. The lecturer argues that the painting has been enlarged by someone in later time to increase the value for painting. Moreover, she asserts that the wood used to enlarge the painting was the same wood that Rembeandt had used in his earlier paintings. Indeed, acording to the researchers, the painting is drawn by Rembrandt.

To summerize this, lecturer gives various explainations for the questions being raised on the attribution of painting to Rembrandt.
