The reading and lecture discuss the ways used to decrease the salinity of water in salton see which is in inland lake. the reading gives these three methods. however, the lecture dispute that it's not a great idea maybe it would be realistic and practical desalination would present a serious problem that dissolves in the water.

First of all, the reading article claims that it is the direct removal of salt from the lake's water in special desalination facilities. while, the speaker notes that it causes a serious problem there is other types of chemical which is very toxic it will harm people's health by saying solid material that lives behind toxic like selenium may be people inhale that it will affect their health.

Secondly, the reading passage states that dilute the salt level in the lake with water from the ocean. on the other hand, the professor points out that required building pipelines and canals. these major constructions require huge financial resources and will be expensive as the ocean is 100 kilometers away.

Finally, the reading text suggests that it would be to control the salinity of the lake by constructing walls to divide the lake into several sections. in contrast, the divide the section unlike to work as long sometimes intense. For instance, an earthquake will cause a collapse of walls and later it will be remixed again.
