Scientists are considering the possibility of sending humans to Mars in the coming decades. Although there have been successful manned missions to the Moon in the 1960s and 1970s, Mars is 150 times further away from Earth than the Moon is. Thus the projec

The reading states that there is not any possibility for a human to travel to Mars and presents three reasons of support. The lecturer, However, find all the ideas dubious and provides some evidem]nce to refute them all.

First, the author argues that it takes 2 years to travel to Mars and come back to earth and during this time the astronauts may face a lack of food, water, and Oxygen. Conversely, the professor underlines the fact that they can establish hydroponics for growing plants in water. As a result, the plants can absorb carbon dioxide and turn it to Oxygen. Also, she explains that they can recycle water and improve its quality to drinkable water.

Second, the article posits that the astronauts can suffer from health problems on the zero-gravity conditions. On the contrary, the speaker opposes this view by explaining that they have faced to zero-gravity in other missions, furthermore, they have several techniques to manage these conditions. She asserts that they can exercise regularly in order to not being weakened their muscles and they can increase the amount of calcium by consuming it in order to not being decreased their bones.
Finally, the reading passage holds the view that there are harmful levels of space radiation, and it is a must to have a shield to being protected from these radiations. In contrast, the professor dismisses this issue due to the fact that this radiation is not at a dangerous level and it is occasionally. Admittedly, we have to equip the spacecraft to special things on its shield, and it is not necessary until it is at danger.
