Shrimping industry rely on trawls to catch the shrimps.

The reading article and the lecture speaks about the usage of Turtle Extruder Device (TED). The essay mentions about the benefits of using TED in order to stop the deaths of turtles. Opposite the speaker refutes the article and suggests to improve the law. Some of the points are mentioned below.

Firstly, a paragraph depicts the usage of mechanical barrier in the net to filter among shrimps and other non-wanting creatures. Moreover, it does not allow 10cm exceeding sized aquatic mammals to get into trunk. On the other hand, the narrator disagrees with the fact and conveys that this mechanism also act as barrier for small sized shrimps or even allow small turtles to enter into the vessel. Ultimately, it lowers the number of shrimps in net.

Secondly, the passage portrays the establishment of certain organisations which supervise the installation of device in shrimp vessel. Furthermore, the committee issue certificates for approval to catch shrimps. However, the speaker confronts the fact and claims that for gaining profit and maximising the business, the some people rely on fake certifications.

Lastly, the article avers that the organisations who are abiding the laws and thus having the TED installed the certificate will be allowed to perform business in the United States. On the contrary, the narrator, rejects the idea and tells that each country has its own certification and laws, so standardising the one law in actual will not be assisting for many nations.

In conclusion, the reading article supports the TED mechanism in order to save lives of turtles. But the speaker opposes all the ideas and shows his rejection among points discussed in the same.
