The passage of reading states that the smart cars are more convenient in all aspects, and by providing three reasons of support like time savings, life savings and money savings. However the professors explain that the reasons given in passage are not very effective and refute each point of the author's reasons.
Firstly, the reading claims that the smart cars will prevent the accidents, so thereby saving live. The car will be equipped with sensors which will determine the obstacles and cars, and with automatic programs control braking to avoid collisions. The professor refutes this reason, by saying that it’s not clear according to the benefits by saying that the cars will save lives of the people, as these cars will be more tightly packed and will be more prone to accidents by involving more cars in accidents.
Secondly the article posits that, traffic problem will also be reduced due to automatic cars, due to more speed the cars will follow each other and close driving will save the time and people will reach on their destination on time. However the professor claims that due to high speed cars more peole will like to drive and people will not reach on time as everybody would be using smart cars so it means there is no advantage of smart cars.
Finally the reading holds that smart cars will save the money and repairing will be not very expensive as due to longer duration of items in the car. The professor opposes this point by indicating that due to global usage of driving the repairing will not be vey less expensive; it will be of no advantage of using smart cars.
