The reading and the lecture are both about influences of smart cars on our life. The author of reading feels advantages of these cars. The lecturer challanges the claims made by the author. She is of the opinion that these theories are falce.
To begin with, the author argues that with help of sensors smart cars can prevent accidents by determining location of other cars accurately. That is why, this technology saves people’s lives and make safer travels. This specific arguement is challanged by the lecturer. She mentions that sometimes these detectors does not work aptly, especially when there are plenty of cars in the road, it would hard to detect correctly, and cause to some errors, which could results accidents.
Secondly, the writer suggests that expanding use of smart cars will increase speed of cars and makes travels quicker. Because they can detect other automobiles, they would be able to increase their speed safely and appropriately. The lecturer, however, rebuts it by mentioning that the people who drive a car will be higher, because of easier to drive these cars. Therefore, number of cars could get increase in the path, which generate an obstacle for smart car to run with higher speed.
Finally, the author posits that drivers will need to repair their cars due to less numbers of accidents. This reduces money that buying new equipments to replace parts of cars and restorating cars. In contrast, the lecturer’s position is because equipments of smart cars are made with high technology, as expected they are more expensive than part of traditional cars as well. This statement made by the writer soes not illustrate reality by lecturer’s opinion.
