To begin with, the reading states that vessels were not used as batteries because it was not connected to any metal wires. On the other hand, the professor contradicts this point by stating that, the jar was discovered by the local people, not by archaeologists, there might be some other material near the jar but local people didn't recognize the importance of that material and they might have thrown away.

Furthermore, the article claims that inside jar looks the same as other copper cylinders used for holding scrolls of sacred texts, not for generating electricity. Nonetheless, the professor says that looks don't prove anything. They might discover later that if they use iron and water jar will generate electricity.

Moreover, the reading claims that there was no use of batteries vessels for the ancient people. The professor says that ancient people were using mild electricity for heading purpose like for pain, fever. Even they might use to show the magical power of these vessels that can generate mild shock.
