summarize the points made in the lecture about fuel replacement with ethanol, being sure to explain how they oppose specific points in the reading passage according to the professor.

The reading discusses about negative influences of ethanol production. However, professor in the lecture contradicts with the ideas mentioned in the passage and he gives three reasons to support his opinion accordingly.

First, it was mentioned in the reading that ethanol is not notablly helping with greenhouse gases reduction in the atmosphere. But, the professor illustrates that the act of planting corns as the main source of ethanol production can effectively decrease the greenhouse gas emissions rate by absorbing them reversely during their growing period.

Second, the passage argued that excessive use of resources like corns for more ethanol production may damage the ecosystem by resources reduction for other applications like feeding the animals. On the other hand, in the lecture, he believes that the producers and factories can use celulose in plants walls for ethanol production which are not totally eatable by animals. So, their feedstock is not going to alter significantly, as the animals eat just the seeds and the plants crops left behind anyway.

Third, the article mentions that the price of ethanol can not compete with gasoline without the govrenment assistance at all. In contrast, the professor insistes that actually ethanol fuel has the ability to compete with gasoline, since the ethanol factories now are not working in full capacity. Thus, if these producers ethanol in their companies with all of their production capacity, the ethanol price will definately reduce in the market and can compete with fossil fuels like gasoline. For example, if they increase their ethanol output three times in comparison to what is being produced now, the ethanol price can easily decrease to 40 percent less.
