tidal power- integrated task

The article claims that the how the tidal energy is produced by using the dams on estuary of the river.Conversely, the professor opposes the statements in the reading and highlights the some dis-advantages which are caused by this tidal energy and refutes each of the author's reasons.

First, the author asserts that the four periods of energy production are possible every day in order to produce practical amounts of electricity. However, the professor contends this point by saying that the tidal power can never do more than provide a fraction of our total energy needs because those are not the good locations to produce high amount of electricity.

Second, the reading states that the tidal power is renewable ,non-polluting and contributes no greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. In contrast, the lecturer opposes this point by explaining the negative impacts of the tidal generators on the eco-system of the related regions.First of all, thequality of the water in the estuary area will be changed and this will effect on the local wildlife and furthermore the salinity level will increases, when the sea water is mixed with estuary water causes the growth of the red tide organisms which leads to cause paralysis in shellfish and affects many aquatic creatures.

Finally, the article says that this kind of system can provide a useful energy supplement to other sources in an era of diminishing fossil fuel reserves. On the other hand, the professsor refutes the point by saying about the fish that naturally migrate between the river and sea won't be able to pass the barrage.Furthermore, fishing boats are normally moored in the estuary and they can't navigate between estuary and open sea .According,to the professor all these reasons affects the economy of that area .
