TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

The author and the lecture hold a set of conflicting opinions about offering 4 days working per week. According to the passage, it is the author's opinion that it has several merits, and provides three reasons to support it. However, the lecture states that it's dubious and skeptical, thus opposing each of the author's reasons.

First of all, the reading material suggest that offering 4 days instead of 5 days will reduce the working cost and increase the rest of the worker so he will reduce the possibility of errors. In contrast, the professor puts forth the idea that this is false, because the company have to spend more money to hire new workers and to train them, plus that the company have to purchase new computers and make space for new of new offices. Clearly a disparity exists between the article and the evidence exhibited by the professor. Hence, first the proposal is negated.

Second, the article pushes forth the idea that it will reduces unemployment rate. However, the classroom discussion contends that by states that some of the companies offering overtime and they will rise expectation of the 4 days worker to do the same job of the 5 days worker, thus no addition jobs. Consequently, we can argue that indeed the claim made in reading is unsubstantiated.

As the last point to emphasize the reading claim, the author says that the free time that the employee gets, will help him to increase the quality of his life. Conversely, the professor refutes this point by explaining that the worker will decrees the ability of the job ability and will reduce the chance of getting advancing in his carrier. Therefore, climate fluctuations cannot explain this decline.

In summary, while both the reading and classroom discussion provide interesting information with regards to the working days, a significant amount of evidence support that working 5 days is better than 4 days. Therefore, the reading passage fails to justify the claims.
