TPO-02 - Integrated Writing Task In many organizations, perhaps the best way to approach certain new projects is to assemble a group of people into a team. Having a team of people attack a project offers several advantages. First of all, a group of people

The reading and the lecture are both about working in a group. The author of the reading believes that it brings three advantages. However, the lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He provides a situation of a company as an example for his thinking that none of those ideas, which the author of the reading mentions are unconvincing.

First of all, the author of the reading points out that working in a group will provide wider range of knowledge and they will work faster. They come up with greater solutions for solving problems. This point is challenged by the lecture. He says that when people working together they usually spend a lot of time on meeting and gather members together. Therefore, it takes longer time to finish their jobs than working alone.

Secondly, the author of the reading contends that working in a group will encourage members to make risky decision, because if the decision is wrong, the whole group will take responsibility. The lecture rebuts this argument that when people working in a group if some people have new ideas or decisions, the group usually make them drop and if they follow their ideas, and the result is not good the members of that new idea will be blamed.

Finally, the author of the reading states that if members of a group contribute a good contribution they will receive rewards according to their contributions, and they will be recognized as highly significant. The lecture on the other hand, opposes this point that when people working in a group, if they do a good job, the reward will separate into the whole group and the members who have done a good job have no recognition. Therefore, they usually feel uncomfortable.

In conclusion, the author of the reading tends to believe that working in a team brings many benefits. However, the lecture refutes all of those ideas that the author of the reading has mentioned.
