The paragraph shows the doubt on the painting of an elderly woman by most famous painter Rembrandt. Paragraph states that this painting is contrary to the styles of the painter Rembrandt. Whereas lecture clarify the doubts by adding more information about the painting.
Firstly, the paragraph doubts on the painting by Rembrandt by showing inconsistency in the painting by delineating costly dark fur collar and ordinary linen cap which is against his style of painting. Contrary to this opinion, lecture states that painting had been made by Rembrandt and it has been modified. She says that dark collar was not original in the painting portrayed by Rembrandt however valuable fur collar has been added to the increase the value of the old painting. As Rembrandt is famous for light and shadow, collar was light in color which was reflecting light on the face of woman.
Secondary, paragraph states that examination proved that painting panel comprises pieces of wood glued together again opposite to Rembrandt's work. Whereas lecture says that the original painting had been portrayed in the one piece of the wood and later they added pieces of panel to give more value to the painting. Adding more value to her statement she clarifies that original panel of the painting had been taken by the same tree which was used in the other works of Rembrandt.
