TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rem

The article states that Rembrandt, a famous Dutch painter in seventeenth-century painted a lot of famous paintings but there are doubts of one of such painting is known as attributed to Rembrandt because its style is totally different from Rembrandt original paintings. So, the article provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that recently researchers examined this painting and confirmed that its original piece is made by Rembrandt and he refutes each of the author's reasons.

First, the reading claims that the woman in the painting is wearing a luxurious fur collar coat. But, the professor refutes this point by saying that x-ray analysis of the painting has shown that fur collar was not the part of original painting. He states that actually, this fur collar added painting was made 100 years after the original painting to make the painting more valuable and sophisticated.

Second, the article posits that Rembrandt was famous for light and shadow but in this painting these elements do not fit together. However, the professor says that after removing the fur collar from the painting, the original painting used just simple and light collar clothes. According to him, the light and simple collar illuminates the face of the woman and the original painting is realistic as expected from Rembrandt.

Third, the reading says that the painting was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together but Rembrandt usually painted only on wood panels. Here, the professor opposes this point by explaining that when the fur collar was added, the wood panel also enlarged with extra woods and used glue on the side and the top of the panel. We also learn that it was done to make the painting more grant and more valuable. So, according to the professor, the original painting was painted by Rembrandt.
