TPO-07 - Integrated Writing Task In an effort to encourage ecologically sustainable forestry practices, an international organization started issuing certifications to wood companies that meet high ecological standards by conserving resources and recyclin

The author describes that the United States wood companies do not care about obtaining ecological certification for their products and provides three reasons to support this claim. On the other hand, the lecturer states that the American wood companies will practice for receiving eco-certification and refutes each of the author's reasons with rational grounds.
First of all, the writer states that American consumers would not pay attention to the eco-certification label, since they are bombarded with so many advertisements. Nevertheless, the professor points out that this claim is true just when companies advertise their own products, but when they advertise other products people could trust them.
Second, according to the reading, American consumer prefer to buy cheaper uncertified products instead of buying more expensive ones with eco-certification. However, the lecturer brings up the idea that all of the people care about prices of the products, but it is not the only factor to make a decision. People prefer to buy cheaper products when their prices are comparatively higher or lower, so if differences among the costs of the products are lower than five dollars, they would rather buy certified products than uncertified ones, which protect and preserve the environment.
Third, the author expresses that American wood companies will pursue the eco-certification only if they marketed their products to foreign countries. However, the speaker posits that American companies pay attention to what's going in the international business. As a matter of fact, if they do not value to the eco-certified products, abroad companies will dominate the United States market, hence native companies will lose their chance.
Therefore, the points mentioned in the reading do not make any sense.
