To begin with, the reading mentions that American customers do not pay attention to the ecocertification label. They do not have much trust in advertising claims in general. However, the lecture argues that the customers somewhat distinguish if the wood product have some ecocertification especially if it labeled from an independet international organization.
Next, although it is true that people tend to choose cheaper price, it will happens if the product have huge price gap. If it is only slight difference such as 5 %, people will choose a product which has good certification rather than common products. Also, American customers like to have a product that conserve more environment.
Last, the professor refutes that American companies will not have benefits for global selling. He says that there are huge competition among foreign company to became the best. Also, he explains that if the American company do not have some innovation like getting ecocertification, it is only about the time that American customer will buy wood products from foreign company
