As far as the sources are concerned, both the passage and the lecture discuss that specially teenagers are reading less nowadays such as literature,novels, plays, and poems. While the reading passage mainly focuses missing out significant benefits, the professor points out why reading literature declines recently.
The reading passage says that decrasing in book reading let people to decline imaginations, using language skills. The listening passage, however, says that the literature has high quality and it can help to improve imaginations.
İn contrast to speaker's point of view, the author points out that people are reading shallow poorly written and they tend to watch TV or read unnessary entertainment which makes lower the level of cultere. The speaker, goes on to say, however, that culture is changed and people are spending their time with music and movies than literature.
Finally unlike the listening passage the reading passage says that thanks to today's reader, the wrting scale down whereas there are a lot of gifted writers today. The speaker, however, disagrees with this point of view. The professor feels that decline reading literature is sometimes autor's fault hence it is hard to figure out what you read
