TPO-14 - Integrated Writing Task Every year, forest fires and severe stormscause a great deal of damage to forests in the northwestern United States. One way of dealing with the aftermath of these disasters is called salvage logging, which is the practice

The lecture and the reading both discuss forest. While the reading states that forest fires and other disasters can cause lots of damage and a way can alleviate this problem called salvage logging which helps to remove dead trees from the forest. The lecture refutes this, saying that salvage logging appear to positive effect and recovering forest but actually it seriously long determined damage.
First of all, the reading claims that if the dead trees do not remove of the forest it makes a difficult condition for growing new trees and salvage logging definitely helps forest after the catastrophe to become fresh and brisk environment. However, the lecture argues that cleaning up forest after disasters does not necessary and also the decomposing of trees has an advantage for tree and nutrient for growing.
In addition, the reading makes the argument that dead trees in the forest makes the harmful situation for trees by a dangerous insect for example, as reading mentioned, the beetle can damage spruce trees and the salvage logging makes it decline. The lecture counters this point by stating it is true that rotting wood can increase insect population but is it bad for the forest? According to the lecture, spruce can live 100 years without causing damage. The lecture said that salvage logging more harmful that insect.
Lastly, the reading passages argue that the salvage logging has economic advantages such as many industrials try to use forest products or salvage can create jobs for local people. According to the reading a fire forest completely harmful for economic. The lecture refutes this claims by pointing out that the salvage has benefits for economic but are small and salvage recover forest by using Helicopter and other vehicles. Additionally, creating jobs by salvages are temporary
