The reading and the lecture discuss methods to prevent the spreading of Cane toad in the South America from different perspectives. The lecture seems to negate all the solutions that the reading has mentioned in the article. He believes that the Cane toad cannot be easy to destroy by those ways.
First of all, the author of the reading points out that people can build national fence to stop the moving of the cane toad. This point is challenged by the lecture. He restates the fact that since young cane toads and egg cane toads are found along the rivers, they can be carried to wherever following the flowing of water.
Secondly, the author of the reading contends that people can destroy and capture the cane toad by volunteer. The lecture rebuts this idea that the volunteers are usually untrained. Moreover, the native frog of Australia looks the same the cane toad of the South America. Therefore, the volunteers may destroy all of them.
Finally, the author of the reading states that the cane toad can be killed by a kind of disease virus. This virus just only kill the cane toad, so it is not harmful to other insects. The lecture on the other hand, opposes this point. He refutes that when people use the disease virus to destroy the cane toad of Australia, it will negatively affect the American's cane toad, which plays an important role in ecological system of the U.S.
