According to the passage, in the United States, bird population was plummeted by increase population of the human settlement in bird habitat area, agriculture and pesticide. Whereas, according to the lecture, the professor say that the author provides reasons is unconvincing and challenge to each outlined presents by reading.
Firstly, the reading implies that surging the human settlement causes forest, wetlands, and grassland transfer into the home, mall, and office which directly effects on the bird population. However, the lecturer mentions that it is true that human population causes little types of bird population decrease but not another type of bird. Even increases other species of bird such as pigeon, landfill, hawk, and falcon. He says that it does not uniformly decrease whole bird species.
Secondly, the passage emphasizes that agriculture increase with human population, therefore, wilderness area use for agriculture purpose. As result, the decline bird populations. On the other hand, the speaker explains that it is prediction may be true in future but in present, USA day by day less use the land for agriculture. In fact, blot out the unnecessary plants.
Thirdly, the author's states that pesticide use in agriculture which kills the insect but this pesticide contact with the water and foods. Bird’s intake the poisonous insect and water causes die birds. In contrast, the professor points out that in past this happened but in the current situation, people aware this problem and invented new pesticide which is not contaminated the water and tradition pesticide not harm to birds.
