The reading and the lecturer discuss over buzzing, which is an advertising tactic. The author of the reading believes that this way of advertising has negative effects both on society and consumers whereas the lecturer, who is a part-time buzzer and also a student refutes claims made in the article.

First off, the reading passage says that consumers should know the truth about products. When they aware that a person praising the product is being paid, this makes everything different. The lecturer, on the other hand, claims that buzzers do not tell the truth is not true. Most companies just find people using these products and hire them as buzzers. He also states that his job is not like that of an actress because buzzers already use those products. So they do not cheat on people.

According to the article, consumers do not question those people since they do not know they are being lobbied. So, they believe everything and this is harmful to customers. The speaker rebuts this by claiming that people usually tend to ask a lot of questions about features of products. If buzzers do not have any answers to those questions, people do not buy them.

Lastly, the passage claims that this method of advertising has harmful effects for relationships since it will end up people become less trustful. The lecturer, however, finds this idea stupid. He claims that since they like those products, they also use them. So, they do not tell lies to the customers and this makes buzzers more trustful.
