The lecturer disputes some arguments presented in the reading about the removal of “let it burn policy”. She contends that forest fires are part of the natural ecological system. Even though, they affected the famous National Yellow Park Stone, they are still important as they are create various opportunities in the ecosystem.
First and foremost, the reading argues that the forest fires instigated that huge damage of park trees and vegetation. As a result, left the park desolated with scorched and charred trees. On the other hand, the lecturer points out that the scorched land paved a way for the colonization of new plants, creating an opportunity for plants which could not have inhabited in such places in previous times to strive. She cited an example of seeds that required a high level of heat in other to surface on the natural ecosystem.
Secondly, the lecturer posits that while indeed there was a damage to the yellow stone, it fostered an ideal habitat for some animals such as rabbits or heirs which invariably provided other animals a source of food as they feed on the rabbits. Definitely, this created a strong food chain in the ecosystem. This is in direct contrast to the reading.
Finally, the lecturer states that tremendous damage which occurred in yellow stone park do not occur frequently even though it last long due to the inclement weather that propelled the intensity of the damage. She also mentioned that there is a high volume of tourist visiting the park after the great incident. This is contrary to the reading which claims that the outbreak of the forest fires has declined the rate of tourism to the National park
