Genetic modification is one of the promising scientific fields which can help human kinds to provide their food or other needs efficiently. This process means that scientists modify the gene of the organism to change its characteristics. Here I explain some of the pros and cons of genetic modification.

First, genetic experts can modify the gene of trees in order to enforce them against some viruses such as papaya trees in Hawaii. Before genetic modification a huge number of papaya trees damaged by the ring spot virus which they now can survive easily with genetic modification science. Although enforcing the trees can prevent them from harsh condition but, as all of the modified trees have similar characteristics they are suffered from other harsh conditions despite of natural ones.

Second, with the aid of genetic modification, farmers can return their investments faster because the modified trees grow faster than natural ones. However the growth rate and the quantity of fruits increased but, the modified trees need specific grains which are modified genetically by experts and so farmers should spend more money on them.

Third, we can produce woods and timbers more efficiently with the modified trees because they grow faster and as a result they can be replaced faster than unmodified trees. Of course I should note that modified trees can prevent wild trees to grow as they use their resources.
