Both reading and speaking discuss strange sounds which sailors in Russian submarines heard. The article states that Russian sailors heard strange underwater noises called quackers and provide several theories what was it. The speaker, cast serious doubts on this idea and beleive that none of these theories are convincing enought and refutes all the author's reasons.

First of all, the Article claims that the strange noises are resemble the calls of male and female ocra whales. The area which submarines were picking up the noises are konown inhabit. the speaker opposes it by saying that ocras live near the surface of water. these saound can not be belong of ocras.

Secondly, the article states that as a second theory the sound might be caused giant squid. These squid which is giand marine invertebrates, are so fast. Due to their bodies and speed, it is hard to detect by sonar. The article states that there are not record voice of giant squid.

Lastly, the article posits that russian submarine may pick up stray sounds from some military technologies such as another country's submarines. However, the speaker refutes it by saying that they are move quickly.
