TPO-42 - Integrated Writing Task Glass is a favored building material for modern architecture, yet it is also very dangerous for wild birds. Because they often cannot distinguish between glass and open air, millions of birds are harmed every year when the

In view of the reading, the author says that so harmful is the glass on the building for birds and there are some solutions which has been noted on the article. Finding the statements arguable, the lecturer casts doubt on the solutions made by the article and presents peice of evidence in contrary.

At first, the author argues that there are kind of glass which caled one-way glass and it will be beneficial in this situation. Using this glass, not only can it provide a good view for people in the building, but it can help the birds to consider it as an solid obstacle since they can not see in the building. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that this one-way glass act like mirror and bird see the back of themselves through it and they can not understand the difference. So, this solution is not practical.

In addition, the reading passage holds the view that colorful design can be used as a helpful solution. As a matter of fact, by using thin stripes, people can see out easily and birds prevent themselves to fly through the glass. On the other hand, the lecturer disputes this claim by clarifying the fact that if we want to get result from this solution, we should have a little unpainted area of the glass since without that, it is impossible to birds can see them.

Finally, the author asserts using powerful electromagnets as the last point for supporting a solution to prevent bird's hurt. The lecturer, though, dismisses it by pointing out the fact that bird's sence about earth's magnetic field is related to the far distance. So, it cannot help them in this short distance which they have with the glass. Therefore, it is useless to use electromagnets in building.
