In the reading, the author claims that there are many animals that migrate for feeding and mating purposes and about humpback whales, we know how they do it by using navigation ability by pointing out 3 reasons of supporting. However, finding all the ideas questionable and implausible, the lecturer totally repudiates this claim and presents some evidence to the contrary.
At first, the author argues that so intelligent are humpback whales that they can use stars to navigate by. it suggests that they brain have special power in comparison to other animals. Conversely the lecturer brings up the idea that ther are any relations between inteligency and using starts for novigation since there are a lot of animal for example dogs or birds which are not intelligent but they can use start for navigation since they born with this feature.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that humpback whales migrate in straight lines although they can't use some external objects or forces. On the other hand, the lecturer disputes this point by clarifying the fact that many of animals move in straight direct but they use magnitide fields. that being said that they can't use moving straight without any external forces.
Finally, the author asserts special unusual behavior of humpback whales that known as a spy-hopping as the last point for supporting their ability to use stars to navigate by. The lecturer, though, dismisses it by elucidating that there are a plethora of animals which have spy-hopping behavior. a good example of them is shark that use this behavior to look for animals to haunt them. This is show that this behavior not a reason for see a
